How I found my Why:

In early 2018, I was nearing ten years of teaching English in China, and my husband and I were preparing to move to Germany that December. While I was ready for a new start, I was also nervous because I didn’t know what I wanted to do for work there. All I knew was that I didn’t want to teach English anymore.

The Fateful Day

In February, I was sent to a different campus. There, I met a new coworker, who happened to be a writer. I’d always been an avid reader, so I offered to look at his stories. That was when the stars shifted, and my life trajectory changed.

The Spark

I read his stories and gave feedback, and we had countless brainstorming sessions. We talked plot, prose, and characters for hours on end. I offered suggestions, and he ran with them. These creative collaborations left me feeling more alive than I had in years. I was hooked.

The Fire

One day, he told me he planned to submit a story and said, “I’ll need to hire an editor, of course.” I asked, “What exactly does an editor do?” After he explained it, I thought, I could do that. And so I did.

The Aftermath

Since then, I’ve devoted myself to storytelling. I’ve studied editing, creative writing, and story craft. I’ve taken courses, earned certificates, and read everything I could from editors and authors alike. I continue to self-study all aspects of fiction editing and writing.

This education has allowed me to help writers realize their publishing dreams. And now that I’m working with InkittGalatea, the world’s first reader-powered publisher and the world’s fastest-growing reading app respectively, I’m able to help even more authors publish and grow their audience.

What This Means for You

You’re not just hiring an editor. You’re gaining a partner, one who’s as invested in your story as you are. You’ll get access to someone with a sharp eye for language, a deep love of story, and a commitment to your vision.

Whether polishing a final draft or untangling a messy middle, you’ll get help in shaping your story into its strongest form. With honest, constructive feedback, clear suggestions, and support that respects your voice.

You, your readers, and I all want the same thing: characters to fall in love with, worlds to get lost in, and stories that pull us in and don’t let go.
